Unfortunately, there will always be bad actors who want to disrupt your meeting or even worse, steal your information. To avoid having inappropriate material, language and having data stolen, we’re implementing the Zoom Waiting Room security feature to help you prevent unwanted attendees.
This feature provides a virtual waiting room for your attendees and allows you to admit individual meeting participants into your meeting at your discretion. This keeps the unwanted “Zoom bombers” from disrupting your meeting with inappropriate language, material or even from snooping in on private information.
As meeting attendees arrive, Zoom will notify you and provide you a list of those in the meeting and those still in the waiting room, so you have total control of who joins your meeting. Once you’ve admitted an attendee into your meeting, you can easily push them back to the Waiting Room or remove them from the meeting all together and can even prevent their return. Once all meeting attendees are present in the meeting, you have the option to lock the meeting. Note that the waiting room can be enabled and disabled by clicking on the Security icon and checking or unchecking “enable waiting room.” This will allow students to enter class w/o being assigned to the waiting room. This is helpful at the beginning of class when many students may all be entering at once.
If the Waiting Room option is enabled, join before host will not work for that meeting.
Webinars do not support Waiting Room. Use a webinar practice session as an alternative.
